OK, so in school, we had to write this essay about The Power Of One Vote. I really like it, and I think it's the best essay I've ever written, so here goes:

The Power Of One Vote Essay

There are many important things in our life that we do, such as having some rest, eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner, wearing clothes, living in a shelter, etc. But there is one more thing that is the most important to us. This is something that changes the way we live. It is one vote. Just one vote can make all the difference to our nation, and change our lives. It can also change the course of history, and we are all part of it.

One vote can change the way we live. An example of this is the vote that helped George W. Bush win in the election of 2004. With him as president, we have to be cautious of what we say on the telephone, because our telephone lines are being watched every second. This is just one way of how our lives can change with just one vote.

Just one vote can change the course of history. In 1771 just one vote gave America the English language instead of the German language. Without this vote, we would be speaking German right now. In 1845 only one vote brought Texas into the Union. In 1868 one vote saved President Andrew Johnson from impeachment, and in 1876 one vote made Rutherford B. Hayes President of the U.S. These are just some examples of how one vote could change our past.

This is a list of some other votes that changed our history:

In 1923, just one vote gave Adolf Hitler the leadership of the Nazi Party.
In 1941, just one vote saved selective service, which was just weeks before Pearl Harbor.
In 1984, just one vote elected Maurice Nichols the mayor of the City of Athens, Alabama.
In 1992, just one vote decided a town council seat in Trinity, Alabama.
In 1992, just one vote decided the Democratic nomination for the Madison County Commission, District number two.
In 1996, just one vote could have elected a member of the Limestone County Board of Education, District Number 5, though this election was decided by the toss of a coin.

There is one more step leading to this important event. Us. We are all part of this very important event. All of us are able to vote, though this only applies to us if we are over eighteen, and is a citizen. It is our vote that makes all the difference. We are supporting a side, and helping that side win. We are the ones who cast the ballot. This vote changes the outcome of the poll, and changes the winner. We are an important part of voting.

Just one vote can make a difference to our world or nation. It can make a difference to the way we live, the course of history, and our past. It can also change our present, and may even change our future. Just this one vote is a major part of our lives. It is very important to us. But we are all also part of it. We all play an important role. This is the “Power of One Vote.”

too boring for you? oh well, I'm really proud of it...
